I cant understand why anyone would want to live in a subdivision for me it would be like being in jail .

This insane vandalism culture these punks follow seems to mostly happen in the U.S. and copycat Canada. In Portugal or Belgium, France they have respect and leave these mostly untouched. The lack of religious values and 90% dominance of destructive Marxist Socialist ideas being pumped into all aspects of the society is the reason. These kids are full of anger and violence they let loose on buildings due to poor liberal parenting or no disciplining father in the homes like most popular pushed ghetto culture.

First time I heard an explorer discuss the metal vs tar shingle roofing !! Metal rarely leaks and the building will stand as is for a hundred yrs after abandonment. Best way to go! Aluminum will ever rust either and only will if damaged.

This one proves my point that all these bandos would be in good shape like this one for many many decades if they had been built with an aluminum panel section roof!!! I saw it on that ending outside shot. No explorer has ever discussed roof designs and materials in the hundreds I've seen, even though it is the key to how rotten the insides will end up! This will look the same in 40 more years. I saw a thatched roof mansion with no leaks too. Tar shingles are terrible & everyone uses that garbage. That tall wood stove in a back room used to be in the center of the livingrooms because I saw the stove pipe hole there. Central heating!

This house was built in the late 1950s to early 1960s. It is absolutely NOT built in the 1970s.

Yes, Its rather sad the houses are soon to be gone, but their are other housing issues far worse than this, like low income housing developments being closed down, while the new company tears the places down to build expensive condos that low income can never afford. the people who left this development were paid far above market value so the families can afford even better houses elsewhere No one there was evicted or thrown in to the streets with no where to go..

That is the 2nd Asian owned mansion with severe rust staining ignored by owners. It could be filtered and the stains removed with muriatic acid like you said but they were ignorant, cheap or both. Both houses also had padded leather bed headboards with the brown top coat colours worn off where the hair oils contact and corrode it. It is terrible how very expensive furniture have really weak leathers like this. There is a strong sealing beige basecoat then they swirly spray a very weak brown top coat that is ok at first then with a year or two of use can wipe off with Water! Especially with hair or touching adding body oil. Or the type that just soaks up oil and gets dark. Nobody knows how bad 90% of home leathers or paper thin vinyls are. Made to rot quickly after warranty over.

I have the mirror panels behind the fridge in my garage. I think I got them on freecycle. I wouldn't take the fridge for free. I hate stainless steel. It is so institutional to me. I want a homey kitchen.😅

Very beautiful work and storytelling. I worked for the Ministry of Natural Resources in the early 90s, and I was fortunate enough to have a tour. I remember the beautiful marble washrooms and the narrow staircase. Thank you very much for this 💕😊.

The room area in basement with a curved hanging rod with insulation foam on walls may have been for hanging meats. I think the stove in basement may have been for cooking or smoking meats that were hunted? Too bad people use tar shingle roofs that fall apart instead of aluminum or steel that would stay leak proof. Waste of $ to have a cheap roof .

The government should buy these houses. Spend way too much money fixing them and then condemn them anyway. It is Canada after all.

The homeowners have to be beyond devestated. Possibly some bought sink hole insurance since there was a disclaimer in the contract.

Amazingly, decay hasn't taken this house already with it being abandoned for so long without regular maintenance. I agree with you that it was boring being all emptied like that but still, there were little things like the puzzle pictures on the walls, the stained glass looking things. I agree with other posters the Mcdonalds' character is Mayor McCheese. Thanks for sharing it with us Brent.

I say all the water jugs were there because the well water was so full of iron by the stains in bathrooms. These developers are going hog wild in Canada eh? You get rich like this Asian doctor and buy 5 acres in the woods to build a dream mansion & raise a big family and bring all your relatives too. Then the land becomes very valuable and SOLD to build houses. But this one should stay and plan building around it...why always Demo? They could have paid a handyman to use Muriatic acid to disolve all that rust staining including the well water pressure tank with the floor all rust stained. This pattern of a land, mansion, developer, demolition seems to be the norm. I guess no really rich want to buy something well lived in surrounded by many other mansionettes!

I think it was a grandparents house who had the grand kids over with the bunk beds until one or both died.

If they had an aluminum or steel roof instead of terrible temporary tar paper shingles there would be very little damage inside!

I say the main highly paid breadwinner of the Indian family died somehow and they had no means of support in Cannuckia anymore and so moved back to family in India.

Area of 60 townhomes for f ne I reside built 1974 ❤

I say the giant fireplace den building addon with a lower finished play den not a basement was built late '50s- 60's with the terrible decision to use plank wood roof with tacky tar paper that does not last long! People got cheapo on roofs. I think the garages were more like a '70s addon.

You do a great job in making these recliner adventures for us! Suggestions: Be more curious about date of abandonment by not skipping all these expiration dated items being ignored & calendars occasionally. Also, in Cannuckian does the phrase "I'm not too sure" actually translate to Merican "I don't know"?
